About the Host - Nelson Velazquez

Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, Nelson moved to Chicago in 1998 after graduating the University of Texas at San Antonio w/ a degree in Computer Science.  After gaining business acumen in the corporate world, Nelson began feeding his artistic side by training at the Second City Training Center in Chicago in 2005.  By 2006, he had produced his first successful blackbox sketch comedy revue The Devil Wears Chanklas (extended three times).  He's gone on to perform and/or produce shows at places like ComedySportz, Gorilla Tango Theatre, The Playground Theatre, The Second City, The Apollo Theatre, The Annoyance Theatre, and has toured across the nation performing sketch comedy and improvisation.  He's produced over 50+ theatrical productions (sketch, improv, plays, musicals, videos, fundraisers).

"The reason I put this together was to help my fellow actors get their shows produced AND to help the productions they're a part of to be successful," says Nelson. "Too many times have I seen a production fail due to a lack of planning.  I think we can all benefit some from sharing this information with each actor coming out of the training centers so that they come ready to not only perform the show in show business but also understand and strengthen the business in show business."
